Message fwiw: I've been looking into two things on the vg30. One is this stroker kit. A 10mm stroke increase, which is a 5mm offset on the crank will get you approx. 3.2 liter. It's been a while since I actually ran the numbers. The concern with this is how much grinding on the block will be required to clear the 5mm swing.

The other thing is the makeup of the vg33e. From what I've read, it is the vg30 block bored out. All of the other machined and cast features of the block are identical. The only difference is some of the water flow routing.

With the combination of the two mods, it appears that you can get over 3.5L. My approach on this is for an all motor or s/c set-up, but the displacement applies across the board. You can buy a completely new vg33er s/c set-up with manifold, s/c, t/b and hardware from nissan for $1800.
